HOMETOWN HERO BANNERS: Remembering and Honoring Veterans and Active Military for Our City Annual Veterans Recognition Banners This year, the City of Bunker Hill will honor those who have served in the military with aregiment of banners displayed along multiple streets through the heart of the City’s businessdistrict. The Hometown Hero banners previously have been enthusiastically embraced by thepublic and will now be conducted on an annual basis.The patriotic-themed banners include a photo, military branch and the rank of the person beinghonored. The banners will adorn the light posts in the City of Bunker Hill each year from the endof September through Veterans Day, which is observed on November 11. How to Sponsor a Banner Banner submissions for each year are accepted beginning in the spring. The registrationprocess to sponsor a veteran or active military member for a banner includes: Filling out a Hometown Hero Banner Sponsorship Registration form to provide thehonoree's name, military branch and rank. (link located below) Submitting an original print photo or High-Resolution digital photo (300 dpi minimum) ofthe Active Duty or Military Veteran to be honored. Printed photos will be returned to theowner after processing. Paying a $125 fee (to cover the cost of producing the banner) The City of Bunker Hill will begin accepting submissions and payment for the 2025 banners onApril 1, 2025. The banners will be displayed for 4 (four) consecutive years and then returned tothe owner. Sponsors may also order replacements for weathered or damaged banners at cost.
